What do you think? Could something that takes you less than a minute a day

Gratitude – increases alertness, enthusiasm, determination, attentiveness and energy!

Two or three years ago I would not have read anything with the title ‘Gratitude’ never mind be writing about it!

Gratitude journaling can change your perspective on day to day living and is a simple and effective self care habit with proven results.

I started reluctantly by writing a few things down each morning that I was grateful for – simple and easy! Each day I was finding I was thinking and writing the same things so I then had to start thinking out side the box and guess what, I found a few more things! Simple things like enjoying the outdoors, having a laugh with my family.

After doing this for a few weeks I found another method which involved noting things at the end of the day which had made me happy that day – that seemed a bit easier and within quite a short space of time I was becoming more mindful of things, small and big that made me happy, laugh or was grateful for during the day. What an easy thing to do!

Interestingly most of the studies published on this topic support an association between gratitude and an individual's well-being and better mental health.

Try it for yourself and see.
